Conflicts, support for minorities, the elderly
All our activities have always been carried out in reliance on the generosity and charity of the universal Christian community and on the contributions of friends and supporters.
The Holy Land is a tormented land and it is noticed almost exclusively because of the violence that goes on there and because of religious extremism, and the walls that are erected between peoples and within hearts.
Faithful custos of this troubled heart of the world, the Franciscans demonstrate on a daily basis however, in the life of the people and in emergency situations fraternal charity, simplicity, a constructive and passionate commitment to peace. Without drawing attention to themselves, without making any fuss, they are at the service of others, of the weakest (victims of conflicts, young persons in trouble, the elderly, the sick, minorities).
“The Holy Land is truly a frontier land. It is a land of encounters and of clashes, a land where the riches of East and West flow together, creating a very beautiful symphony, but sometimes also a scream, a terrible cry of pain ... We strive with great humility, without presumption, to remain, to stay, in all simplicity. And to do whatever is possible, day after day.”*
